Winter Shelter Update

One of our parish school mums, Jacki Wootten, has kindly volunteered to organise the Winter Shelter cooking roster and to be the collection point for donated groceries. She is asking for grocery donations for the Winter Shelter, in particular Up and Go breakfast drinks and any other easy to go breakfast packs, rice, pasta and canned goods, toiletry items such as soap, deodorant, sanitary products, etc. are also needed. Please support the program if you can. Jacki has kindly voluntered to coordinate this for Winter Shelter. Please contact her on 0488 013 666 to arrange grocery drop off.

Thankyou.

Gather with Christians from across the State as we uphold our Nation, our State and its citizens during this pandemic.

Christian leaders from across the breadth of the Church have felt a need to stand together to uphold our State, our government, our front line health workers, our communities and one another as we work our way through this time of restrictions and uncertainty.

No 2020 Fete so the 2021 Fete will be big!

The challenges of 2020 have not spared our wonderful fete. After many online meetings, careful consideration and the reviewing of many options(including a virtual fete or a drive through fete) we will not be able to proceed with a fete for 2020. This is a particularly difficult decision given the years of history behind this local iconic event. As a team, we continued to meet and plan for our fete in the great hope that these unprecedented times will pass and that life will return to normality including our wonderful fete. However it was imperative that we considered that this year was likely to be different. As such we closely monitored the situation with the aspiration of our fete going ahead with a modified format or scale but to no avail. We want to thank you all for the continued support including that of The Parish, The School, our suppliers, our sponsors, our volunteers and of course all of you who would normally attend. We wish you and your family all the best during this surreal period. We have already started to plan our return so please take care and see you in 2021.

Request for Fathers' Day articles - Spirit Magazine, September 2020

DEADLINE 21st AUGUST 2020

We really need everyones help to make sure the Fathers’ Day edition of The Spirit is as good as it can be. We need photos and stories.

Because we don’t have any current parish events happening, I have suggested the following to get your creative juices going. Remember, you don’t have to have journalistic qualifications - No one can tell your stories like you.

  • FATHERS AND /OR FATHER FIGURES IN YOUR LIVES - Tell us the funniest story about your father or father figure, or the best thing about him, and if your life story does not have memories of your father tell us what you think you missed most.
  • PHOTOS OF WHAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE BEEN DOING DURING LOCKDOWN. Are you knitting, sewing, singing, drawing, painting, colouring in, jigsaw puzzles - Show us what you have achieved! And tell us the story about how you achieved it! Can be five words or fifty -
  • WHERE DO YOU SAY YOU ARE FROM? For instance, in my case, when asked I always say the district I lived in when I was born.
  • WHAT EVENTS HAS YOUR FAMILY HAD TO EXPERIENCE IN LOCKDOWN? Births, Birthdays, tell us how and what you have celebrated or commiserated.

Remember to ask for permission to publish any photos of persons other than yourself!

Are your pets helping your family through the pandemic? Send us photos of your hero pets.

Thank you, I have already cleared the decks to cope with the enormous response I am anticipating.

Please send your items to helen@konynenburg.com (Click for a pro forma email).

2020 08 01 The Blessing Project, Spirit Extra August 2020

Following on from the choir's recent Covid project 'Abide O Spirit', the Choir now invite the whole parish community to join together in producing a video of 'The Blessing'.

If singing isn't your 'thing', dancing, swaying, waving, playing an instrument, or just providing a still photo will be gratefully received. The idea is to get as many parishioners faces included in a video clip as possible. Many churches around Australia and in fact the world, have joined in this project with some amazing video clips being produced (just search YouTube for 'The Blessing'). Click these links to see the Details of the project, the lyrics and the music. Start with the instructions in the project. If you have questions, email Maree Buttler (details in the project).

The latest Spirit Extra Magazine, #8 - August A 2020, is out this weekend. Check it out here http://www.holyspiritparish.org.au/Spirit-Extra.
